Required disposal of lancets & used test strips

I dispose of my lancets by putting the cap back on & placing it & the used test strip inside the foil of an alcohol swab envelope. Is this sufficient safe disposal? I read you must put them in a bio hazard container. Does that mean you buy containers & fill them up then discard them. That's rather expensive buying those containers. Please advise

Put them into a plastic bottle with a lid.  Dispose when full.

My nurse said I could put in empty milk jug and tape the lid shut when full. Put in regular trash to discard.
