retinal artery occlusion

can heavy lifting cause or contribute to increased likelihood of stroke or retinal artery occlusion?

I concur with caregiver, "one must qualify "heavy lifting"". Learning the basic principles of weight and strength lifting, the how to's of lifting to prevent problems is essential.

Yes, however there are a host of co-factors that must aloso be present. And one must qualify "heavy lifting". Bench-pressing very heavy weights has been associated with strokes, for example. Lifting heavy groceries should be no problem. Under certain conditions very heavy lifting can cause blood pressure to skyrocket. This won't cause a blood vessel to occlude, but it can cause a rupture. Moderation in all things.
