What is prediabetes?

The vast majority of patients with type 2 diabetes initially had prediabetes. Their blood glucose levels where higher than normal, but not high enough to merit a diabetes diagnosis. The cells in the body are becoming resistant to insulin.

Studies have indicated that even at the prediabetes stage, some damage to the circulatory system and the heart may already have occurred.

Yep, that's true.  Basically, if you get a physical and they do lab work, they may read your levels to be such that you are in the danger zone of developing type 2 diabetes.  People absolutely CAN prevent this from happening.  Losing weight is a very good at and this is often accomplished through physical fitness (on a regular basis) and eating a healthy diet.  High in vegetables, low in sugar/fat.  Whole grains and fiber.  This is one health issues that many can have a direct affect on by their own actions.
