Hi Doctor ,

My  husband  underwent a  blood test . His   lab  result  shows
1. fasting  blood   sugar as  88
2.hgba1c as  6.2   (  standard  range mentioned   as  4.5  to 6.0 )

Does this result mean    he  is  having   diabetes

"HbA1C of 6.2% is well within the normal limits of all Diabetic association guidelines."
Not entirely true as the lab range max'd out at 6.0%. Some labs go as high as 7% but in your husbands case, his doctors lab feels he has entered the area of diabetes. Its best to discuss this with his doctor.

No. HbA1C of 6.2% is well within the normal limits of all Diabetic association guidelines. Also Fasting Blood Sugar of 88mg/dL is normal.
This is in case if he is not on any anti-diabetic medication. Otherwise I would call it well controlled Diabetes.
Allthough an assessment if he has Pre-diabetes needs to be done by his body weight and OGTT test.
