Chronic Pain

Well, here goes!  I have 9 ruptured discs in my back and surgery has been ruled out.  I have been diagnosed with Fibro, Restless Leg, Sciatic nerve compression, periferal neuropathy, compression neuropathy, diabetic neuropathy, spinal stenosis, and, o yeah, I'm diabetic.  The pain has increased substantially to the point where I have no quality of life.  I take Lyrica, several diabetic medicines, 40 Mg Oxycontin three times a day with 10 Mg/325 Peercoset for blow over pain.  I also take Skylantin for muscle pain.  Over the past 10 years I have been to a book full of doctors and learned what to say and do and what not to.  I currently go to a pain management doctor as well as an internist for diabetis.  My current Pain guy has been great up to now and I like him but after 3 years going to him the problems have started.  He as removed the Percoset and I am now in bad pain again  Since joining this forum and doing a lot of reading I am convinced this is where I can get the answers and support I need to live with my problems.  My question is, How do I find a pain doctor who will work with me to keep my pain at a level that will let me have a life.  I know you know the answer because a great number of you have found good doctors.  I will take all the advice I can get with much appreciation.   Thank you in advance and God bless.  I should ad that I tolerate all meds well with few side effects..

I often wonder if people post for "medical help" or are posting because they are seeking others to join their pity party.

In case you forgot what you posted, let me remind you:

I don't know if its your pain medication speaking for you or thoughts have been twisted by pain for you misconstrued my response. I asked if you tried Baylor, as in Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Your bio states Arlington, TX so this would be the nearest teaching hospital in your area. Teaching hospitals are where the experts teach and practice medicine including leading specialist in spinal therapy and pain management. Yes, I'm aware of spinal issues and pain management and my reason to refer you to Baylor, and not some homeopathic remedy such as acupuncture.

Acupuncture will not resolve nerve pain issues caused by skeletal problems, period. You're better off with an electric stimulation machine. In closing, to lash out by saying "I'll check out the o0ther forums, BYe!" is inappropriate. You really need to check your negative attitude if you wish any doctor to assist you.

I'm sorry I bothered you with my question.  I'm a Type 2 diabetic and have found from experience that diabetics tend to be more educated on all respects of heath care than other catagories.  I'll check out the o0ther forums, BYe!

I have empathy for you and your pain but this is a diabetes forum and we don't deal with your type of issues here. My only advice is seek an expert in pain control found at a major teaching hospital. Have you tried Baylor?
