My boyfriend who is insulin depend it for 20 yrs plus also has high blood pressure. and is on medication for high blood pressure and cholsterol as well as the Insulin. He was invited to go to new mexico for a week. I know that the altittude is 12,000 miles above sea level. and we live at the beach now. How can this affect his health for going ? he is 48 yr old and not in the best of shape or health. I am very worried . should he ask his dr  regarding this trip. and If i were to go I have a heart condition as well is this a good idea

I would have your boyfriend talk with his doctor about New Mexico. Ask about the potential dangers of being in high altitude, the precautions to take, and what steps he needs to do if he takes ill. Google for names and locations of hospitals in the area you're visiting, especially those with an ER. Do not go unprepared.
