Perhaps why its called phenomenon, something that occurs out of the ordinary and may vary per individual, where in your case one drink at bedtime raises your glucose levels. This may be caused by the sugar in alcohol, little as it may be its still present.
The jury is still out on DP and there's a lot of psuedo scientific material on the net. Mendosa, who has positive reports,
http://www.mendosa.com/blog/?p=232 , says the opposite, that it lowers. So who knows?

About six months ago, I was experiencing the dawn phenomenon consistently. I tried several different things I found after searching the internet. This included drinking about 2 tablespoons of organic apple cider close to bedtime The consistent answer I found was to drop some weight. I also found information about alcohol with meals. I started eating more salads for lunch and then, at dinner, drank 2 to 3 ounces of Cabernet with dinner. That helped tremendously. After about two to three weeks time, the dawn phenomenon stopped except for those infrequent times when I eat way too many carbs during the day.
