Help was diabetes why I lost my baby?

I have type 2 diabetes after my first pregnancy 3 years ago. I lost my little girl 3 weeks ago at 17 weeks. My question is was it the diabetes I thought was under control. I feel I need an answer. When I try again will I be paranoid about what ever I put in my mouth?

I am so sorry to hear about this.  My heart goes out to you.

Trying to give you a definitive answer isn't something I can do.  I'm not a doctor so perhaps your doctor could do an examination and determine if it were something else that could rule out the diabetes.

My wife had diabetes through both of her pregnancies.  We were told that there was a chance of the babies being born with an inflated birth weight, much bigger than say 9 lbs.  There were a few other things that I cannot remember off the top of my head.

Believe it or not, the way around being paranoid, to some extent is getting a proper education on diabetes.  Was this gestational diabetes?  Do you have any other medical conditions that might complicate a pregnancy?  Is this type 2 diabetes?  If so, get exercise, drink water and eat foods high in fiber and lower in carbohydrates.

When you say "you thought you were in control", were you monitoring your blood glucose levels and how often?  Were you on insulin or any other medicine to help regulate your glucose levels?
