Dry, itchy skin IS a symptom of diabetes...

BTW, the term "borderline diabetic" is no longer used. The reason it's no longer used is because some doctors considered a blood sugar of 150 "borderline" while others thought 200 was "borderline"....so some people were not getting diagnosed as diabetics when they should have been.
According to the American Diabetes Association, having a fasting blood sugar of >126 on two separate occassions gives you the diagnosis of diabetes.
Yes high blood sugar can cause itchy skin at least that's what I learned from several searches! I've had itchy skin for over 2 years, not every day thank goodness, but now looking back it seems like the itching was worse when my blood sugar was high. Hope this helps
Possibly but highly doubtful boderline diabetes would cause your itchy skin condition. I'm no doctor but you should see a dermatologist for the itchy skin issue. If moisture temporarily relieves your itchiness by all means get a liver panel test and see what your Bilirubin score is. Excess bile in the bloodstream results in itchy skin, not all over but in spotty areas.
Hi
My mother has diabetes which is under control but she also sometime face the itching problem. is this due to diabetes or she has some skin problem.
To my limited knowledge this would not cause itchy skin.
