I hope that if I do the right lifestyle changes, my sugar problems won´t progress.
My weight is fine, and so far I have been able to manage glucose levels. My question arised, because I am in my 30¨s and I want to know what to expect in my future in relation to my health. I read that diabetes is a progressive condition, and it tends to worsen with time, and medicines lose efficacy after a while, and dosages and medication must be changed.
"How long it will do its work before I have to increase dosage or change medication?"
It would appear a lot depends on how well you are controlling and managing your glucose levels, your weight and if you are adhering to diabetic nutritional guidelines. Are you asking because your glucose levels are rising? What are your pre and postprandial levels? Increasing or changing medication is something only your doctor can decide as he/she has your medical records/history.
True when people do not follow diabetic guidelines by making lifestyle changes. Also happens with genetic inherited diabetics too. In most cases it’s not the problem of the medication losing efficacy, it's the patient thinking they can do whatever they want. When diabetes progresses you’ll need additional medication or a change of medication to help with lowering your glucose levels.
