Insulin Resistance
My gynocologist just diagnosised me with insulin resistance based on some symptoms I was having and is sending me to a endocrinologist. Since I am new to this I had a question. My blood sugar has always come back normal, but now that I have this am I going to have to test daily or is this something that depends on your results? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but this is all new to me. So I have some learning to do.

An Endocrinologist is the best doctor to see for diabetes and pancreas insulin production.
"My blood sugar has always come back normal"
The doctor will verify this by running one or more tests on how well your body handles glucose [blood sugar]. They are:
1.) Fasting - You do not eat or drink colored liquids for 8-10 hours. A blood sample is drawn and your glucose level checked.
Normal levels 70-99 mg/dl
Prediabetes 100-124 mg/dl
Above 126 mg/dl indicates diabetes [hyperglycemia]
If your fasting levels returns below 70 mg/dl this
indicates hypoglycemia. (some labs have low point as
60 mg/dl)
2.) OGTT [Oral Glucose Tolerance Test] - You are given a sugary liquid to drink. You are tested in 1 hour intervals.
This test is given to see how well your body sheds excess glucose after 1, 2 and 3 hours of ingesting the liquid.
3.) RGT [Random Glucose Test] - Tested at any given time. Several may be done throughout the day. Levels that vary widely indicates a problem.
Also, insulin levels measured while fasting can give information about the body's sensitivity to insulin. Normally there are no antibodies to insulin. If you have IgG and IgM antibodies against insulin, your body reacts as if the insulin is foreign. This may make insulin less effective, or neutralize it. Normal values are 5-20 mcU/mL while fasting; values may differ per laboratory. Check your lab results paperwork for the exact ranges.
As far as daily testing, it's to early to tell until the doctor exams your test results.
