May I ask how you eat your meals? I've been type 2 diabetic for about 6 months and I've found it helps me to eat small meals more frequently, otherwise I seem to have high's and low's which is what we want to avoid.
There are so-called "simple" sugars and "complex" sugars.
Orange juice, for example is mostly "simple" sugar. Simple sugars get into the blood stream much faster than a complex sugar, such as that in a hard candy.
Glucose paste in tube, available at all drug stores, applied to the mucosa of the mouth or under the tongue is another way to bring glucose levels up quickly.
It is easy to bring the blood sugar up too high this way, so you don't want to use too much.
If your blood sugar goes low, the quickest and best way to raise it imho is with glucose tablets which you can buy in any drugstore. They have a precise number of carbs and you can get to know exactly how many you need to get back in target. For me, two usually does the truck. People that use food to raise blood sugar often tend to overtreat and then they are chasing highs after the lows which is not good. If there are no glucose tabs available a glass of orange juice is one of the quickest.
