Medical Clearance for UN job

Medical Clearance

I got a job offer with a United Nations Agency.  Will my Type II Diabetes be a reason for the non-confirmation of my employment with the UN?

You were very right.  I got positive medical clearance and I am confirmed for the appointment so my Type 2 was not an issue.  Thank you plenty!

That's less of a "burden" since I assume you are not on insulin and thus less of a risk in most employer's eyes. Part of that is just due to the fact that Type 2 is more commonly known and part of the reason is legit.

Thank you very much for the response.  I am actually Type II and I initially posted the same question in the Type I Forum by mistake.

Thanks!

It seems unlikely, unless the job includes activities that could be dangerous in the event of a high or low, or if you would be assigned to area where access to medical supplies is compromised. In general these concerns are more common with insulin dependent diabetics. Also, the ADA protects people with diabetes as long as we are able to perform the job in question "with appropriate accomodations".
