Metformin causing kidney damage

I am a type 2 diabetic, diagnosed in 2006 as a borderline. Was prescribed Metformin. It is 2018 and i am on dialysis due to the damage this medicine did to my kidneys. I suggest if your taking it, switch to Insulin please. Its too late for me.

He is right my common-law just died and had some kidney problems for eating to much sugar. It goes like that when you are diabetic sugar is addicting take some Free Form L-Glutamine it will stop your sugar cravings. When you are told by doctor to stop eating it you want it even more.Google: What L-Glutamines does for craving sugar. Google also how much to take I take 3 500 Mg a day on empty stomach. It is good to take Vitamin B-12 also I take the Sublingual B-12 10,000 Mcg daily with it.
It will give you energy taken together.
You can get it really reasonable at Piping rock vitamins.

Hi,

So sorry to hear about your kidney damage.

Metformin does not damage kidneys, that damage is done by high blood sugars.

The biggest concern is when metformin is used and it doesn't adequately control blood sugars.  In such case other medications or insulin should be started to get good blood sugar control.   The sooner blood sugars can be under tight control the better, as far as preventing / healing damage.

Diet is also critical in blood sugar control (low carb / carbohydrate controlled is often best).

Normal blood sugars should be in the range of 70 - 120, all the time.  70 - 95 fasting, and 120 or less after eating.

Hope this helps anyone who will read this message.

Metformin does damage the kidney's I am proof of it. Before taking metformin my doctor did a full set of blood tests. After taking metformin for a year it was found I was in stage 3 renal failure. I got taken off of metformin my kidneys showed improvement, then they put me back on it again my kidneys showed problems. I was taken off of it again and again my kidney function showed signs of improvement. I was put in metformin a 3rd time and within 3 months my kidneys showed issues again. I will never take this drug again and am looking for a lawyer to represent me.
I am so sorry you have had kidney failure from Metformin.  It damaged my pancreas, causing pancreatitis every time I was on it.  Took myself off it when my doctor refused to, but now I have to be on insulin because of the damage it caused.
Good luck with your law suit.
