I too, have some anxiety at times - sometimes severe and was once agoraphobic for a few months, but luckily with the help of a good psych and combo of correct meds I came out of it. But, I still struggle with anxiety off and on. I have tingling in the hands and feet when I am stressed/anxious - I thought I had MS or diabetes too. I don't have either. I do have peripheral neuropathy - which is not tingling but actual burning - it sucks. Anyway, my point is, yes, you can manifest physical symptoms from anxiety and you can make yourself physically sick. For one thing - stress makes hormones flood your body that can bring down your immune system (so you get colds more etc) and also can decrease blood flow to your extremities - causing that tingly feeling in your fingers and toes - close to a panic attack. Jump on the anxiety forum and you'll see:) Get a good psychiatrist and counselor quick. Anxiety is the most treatable of all "mental" issues. Take care now and breathe!!!!
I am not asking wheather Worry or Anxiety causes Diabetes but what I am asking wheather Anxiety or Worry can cause Diabetes symptoms.
I am a severe Hypocondriac even imaging that I do have disase that I dont have according to my doctors. I am very affraid of getting Type 2 Diuabetes because my dad has it. Even after a full check up and being told by my doctor that I dont have Diabetes, they put my fears to rest for a while but then my symptoms return again after again.
Can reading about a disease and its symtoms make you imagine that you have the symptoms of a disase even thought you dont.
No. Your Dr. is correct. Diabetes can NOT be caused by anxiety and worry. Based on the information given it does not look like you have diabetes.
