Should I be worried?

I should know this answer because I am in nursing school but I was too embarrassed to ask so I will ask here.  We were checking our blood sugar at school (practicing technique) and it took me a little longer to get the blood sample (about 25 seconds) well I finally got enough blood for a reading and it said 144.  This was about 1 hour after lunch.  I know this is high but could it be a false reading since it took so long to get enough blood for the sample?  The teacher didn't say anything either.  Other than becoming dizzy occasionally after eating, I have no other symptoms.  I also am 5"3 and weigh 123 lbs so I am not very overweight or anything.  Please if anyone can help.

so 144 after eating a big mcdonald's lunch isn't too bad.(and under stress because I was testing)   I don't have diabetes (that I know of). Can't really afford to go to the Dr's if I don't need to so 144 is that normal given what I ate and the stress I was under?

Some say the target level for 1-2 hours after eating is <180 mg/dl, others say <160 mg/dl. This, however, depends on your sugar and carb load (what you ate).
"too embarrassed to ask.." Why? What would you do if this was a patient taking longer than 25 secs to get a test droplet? When in doubt test again. ***** another finger. If you have a newer meter use the forearm or abdomen area to obtain a sample.
