Strange Symptoms

My Dad has been Diabetic 2 for the last 30yrs, so I have some idea of it. I was tested twice as a kid with full glucose tolerance tests and seemed to sneak by.I'm adopted though, so it wouldn't be genetic.

Weird symptoms this last month:
Loss of Appetite (even chocolate)
Edema of the hands and feet to start then it spread
Nausea and some vomitting intermittently
Weight loss, I know I've lost weight but I'm really bloated
Beyond thirsty. (my gp told me to cut back)

I did a 12hr fasting blood glucose (which was actually 13.5hrs because I had to wait)  it showed 6.1
I just one on Monday and that was 8.0 on an 8hr fasting blood glucose, and my urine test was high, though they wouldn't say anything at the lab.
I have Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome - thought I would mention that as some diabetics have it (women that is)
My GP just did a battery of tests for liver/kidney/hormonal functions. I;m still waiting for the results.
Is there any other way to test for Diabetes other the blood sugars?
Are these normal symptoms of Diabetes, I've tried to look them up, but nothing as of yet.

Thanks for any insight, anything would be appreciated.

Thanks so much, I'm okay if I do have diabetes, I've half expected it most of my life. I just want to start feeling better, I have cabin fever!

Aside from the urine test not that I'm aware of. Get an A1c test to verify your glucose levels. This is another blood glucose test. Your fasting test results do indicate diabetes. Although this may be associated with your PCOS I'd wait for the  liver/kidney/hormonal tests results. I think your doctor is on the right track in determining what is causing your issues.
