You might have to really push your doctor to do the tests (or refer you to an endo). I don't know where you live, but LADA/Type 1.5 isn't officially recognized by the ADA yet.
I too love cooking fresh and healthy foods, though as a vegetarian I've had to really work at altering my diet for diabetes. Just gave me a new challenge to my creativity!
Type 1 and 1.5 are autoimmune diseases where your immune system destroys the beta cells; they don't care how healthy we are, unfortunately!
Let us know how it goes.
AND YES, I 'VE BEEN DIAGNOSE JUST OVER A YEAR. OTHER THEN THAT I AM VERY HEALTHY
THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY. I 'VE BEEN THINKING THE SAME THING. THIS MORNING AT 5AM (YES WHY AM I UP YOU MAY ASK.LOL) I WAS AT 265. I LEFT A MESSAGE WITH MY DOCTOR
Hi
Couple questions: You have been diagnosed with Type II diabetes? For how long? The fact that your levels are creeping up so high says that your medication is no longer working correctly. It's time to see the doctor and see what changes he suggests. Given your good weight I also wonder if perhaps you, like me, were misdiagnosed as Type II? If you were diagnosed only within a year or two and oral meds are no longer working it is possible you are actually LADA/Type 1.5 as I am. I was fine on oral meds for just a little over a year when my numbers started creeping up and I needed to go on insulin. Turns out I was not Type II at all. Do you have any other autoimmune diseases such as thyroid? This, in addition to normal body weight and early progression of your diabetes could indicate LADA. Tests to get would be the GAD65 antibody test which is present in type 1's (LADAs) and not Type II. Also a c-peptide test could show how much insulin your body is currently producing. Let us know how it goes. You don't want to stay high like that for too long.
