Hi. Thanks for your advice. Quite well written suggestions. Diabetes runs in the family of both my parents so I need to be very cautious. I shall certainly go for a Hba 1c test as advised by you. I did eat very high carb and sugars meal before going in for the test. I will have to restrict my carb intake. And desserts should be a 'no' 'no'. !! I am a non veg and have fish, eggs and chicken occasionally.
Hello,
you say that diabetes is hereditary in your family. Your previous reported fasting numbers were already prediabetic which meant that you had high potential to develop actual diabetes.
Your post prandial number of 212 shows that you are developing diabetes, if not actually having it already (but you did eat a very high carb meal).
You should now do a test call Hba1c. This test gives average blood sugars over the past 3 months. A totally normal HBa1c will be less than 5.0. The official cutoff for prediabetes is 5.7. Greater than about 6.5 is actual diabetes.
It is great that you are physically active as this will help in your management. You also do need to follow a low carbohydrate diet. This means that you will limit rice, grains, sugars, and most of your diet will be based around vegetables and protein sources (are you vegetarian).
I would also recommend that you see your doctor and discuss your results with your doctor, and start regular monitoring with your Dr. IT may be well advised that you also take some medications to help control your blood sugars.
Rice is a carbohydrate. Chapitas is made from common wheat. Common wheat is a carbohydrate. Pulses are made with? Sweet curd is a no-no.
Also.....I must add here......I am extremely energetic throughout the day (some days I manage a power nap of 20 mns after lunch) and have zero symptoms of Diabetes.
Hi there...............thanks for your timely response. Well.........I do know carbs raise BG. I ate a lot of rice, vegetables, pulses and a 2 chapattis. Also little very sweet curd. I wanted to see if PP would show high. What do you mean by 'not washing my hands' ? A compounder came to draw the blood. I have given blood for PP gain today with almost same meal with two half boiled eggs. Just to ensure a double check.
The reason? carbohydrates raise BG (blood sugar) what did you eat to get a PP of 212?
Could be you did not wash your hand before testing.
Any BG over 200 is considered to be diabetic.
One BG reading is not enough to make decisions on
