worried about my father

My father got Diabetes,he used to take Metformin to control his blood glucose but always get a result beyond 8 by eating too much.He recently refused to take  Metforminand refused to take test 2h after dinner,he said it would be fine to take a test once a week without eating Metformin and he said it is told by his doctor.

Here is my question,is what the doctor said true?Or he will continue to take Metformin ?
Second, how often will he take the glucose test?
Third,how to prevent lose weight?

I hope you take my suggestion to discuss your father's health with his doctor. Daily exercise is one key in controlling and managing t2 diabetes, the others are; eating a proper diabetic nutrition/diet, maintain normal body weight, and maintain normal blood pressure and lipid panel. What you father shouldn't ignore are diabetes side effects, they will occur to those who think they won't.

thank u very much,i know little about Diabetes,so u comment is very helpful.I never thought my father would involve in it because he do exercise daily, but he always eat fast and a lot, maybe that is the reason.
And i have some more question, thank u again to answer it .
The basic testing times mean do that 3 everyday or choose one daily?
I told to my father to take pill daily and in right dosage, but he is so stubborn ,in he opinion he will control the blood glucose by doing exercise and his loss of weight is because the diet plan.
So what do u think?

First, your father may not be telling you everything in its entirety, call his doctor to get first hand knowledge on Metformin dosage and duration. You might include asking the doctor to re-evaluate your father.

Second, these are basic testing times. His doctor may or may not have adjustments to them.
▪ Fasting, first thing in morning before eating or drinking
▪ Postprandial, 2-3 hours after eating
▪ Bedtime, to compare against morning fasting

Third, unexpected weight loss could be an indication of an abdominal disorder. A CT Scan may prove to be helpful. To gain weight most people eat more often throughout the day instead of at three meal times. You should take into considerations when people get older they also tend to eat less. Good luck
