Only water?

I just got the app and joined today. I want to really take dieting serious for the first time in my overweight life. For the past month I've almost completely cut out soda and sweets. I was wondering if I should cut out all drinks besides water to lose weight the fastest? Or does anybody know of something else I can drink that won't hurt or slow down my dieting? I haven't lost any weight yet but it looks like I've lost at least 10 lbs in my stomach, due to not looking so bloated from all that soda. I'm trying to cut out alcohol too but it's hard to resist my Dirty Shirleys  ;-)

Hi! I am also just starting to try and drop some weight. I don't know about you, but I can't seem to make myself like drinking water, no matter how much I remind myself that it's so much better for me than other sugary drinks. One thing that I have found that helps me get in my daily water needs is squeezing lemons or limes into a pitcher of water. It naturally sweetens it and makes it taste so much better! I also drink green teas a lot when I am craving something besides water. But trust me, the lemons and limes really do make a difference!

Hi!
The key to losing weight is burning more calories and consuming calories lower than that required for your basal metabolic functions. Eating more calories than this can cause weight gain. So, first determine the number of calories you need to consume per day. For this, calculate your basal metabolic rate depending on your lifestyle. There are many BMR calculators available on line. While they are not 100% accurate, they give you a rough idea regarding the number of calories required to maintain your basal metabolic functions.  Since you can’t cut down calories drastically, you need to exercise to burn some calories. So if the net calorie consumption is less than need for basal metabolic function and burning of calories is reasonably good, you will start losing weight. You can get many charts online which show you how many calories you burn with a particular exercise. You can use this as rough guideline to help you with an exercise regimen that does not tire you out. These online sites also help you choose from a wide array of food items to build up your calorie need. You have to make a conscious effort to eat 3-4 small well planned meals spread throughout the day. This helps you burn calories better. Hope this helps. Take care!
