Sabotage

Hi Everyone!  A couple of months ago I came to the realization that my whole family tries to sabotage every diet effort I make.  (It has taken me over a decade to admit to this but it is true!)  Since then I have been doing pretty well and have lost about 20 lbs.  Unfortunately I am feeling isolated (It has come down to them against me, them eating ie cream & snacks right in front of me & me stubbornly digging my heels in and sticking to my diet)  I don't really like weight watchers or groups like that (mostly because I tend to take on other peoples problems and I always leave feeling worse than before--I need some POSITIVE role models!!)  Can anyone suggest a good place to find some support???  Thanks!!!

If you are feeling isolated and need positive role models then Weight Watchers is the way to go.  After an unsuccessful attempt with eDiets I joined weight watchers and have had success.  The main difference between weight watchers and eDiets is the meetings and I love them. No one divulges their weight and nobody gets personal with sob stories and the like.  We are all woman (and the occasional man or two) of various sizes and experiences sharing ideas and encouragement.  There are no judgements or shame and I learn an awful lot.  We exchange recipes and strategies and I have made unlikely but wonderful friendships.  It really has been a saving grace for me.  I hope you reconsider and give it a try.

People at work are always trying to sabotage me.  Openly and blatantly.

I wish you would reconsider weight watchers.  Its a tremendous program.  People don't sit around talking about their problems.  The program is explained to you, you are given the materials you need, and the meetings discuss a different weight loss issue each week--you don't have to participate, and you are not asked for details about each other.   Its just general, helpful information that most of us can relate to and learn from.

I'm not a "joiner" either, and I love the meetings.  I appreciate the accountability of weighing in formally each week.  And no, no one else sees your weight.  WW is very strict about confidentiality.

Go to a meeting or two to try it out.  You might be pleasantly surprised.  I've lost over 40 pounds now.

When I was a teenager I lost alot of weight and everyone thought I looked anorexic. Then about 12 years ago I went on a diet and my ex-husband tried to sabotage me. Can you afford to go too Weight Watchers. Another place is overeaters anonymous. You need to really need to find a group that is trying to lose weight. They will give you all the support you need. Also, if you have a friend you can talk to that would be enthusiastic about your weight loss, or come to this forum and let us know how things are going.
