Sunday Weigh In

Here we are again, at the beginning of new week and it's time to look at how we did last week, to either celebrate our success or mourn our lack of success........

In my case, it is most certainly lack of success.  I'm not sure what is going on here, but I'm up another pound this week.  That's 2 weeks straight that I've gained; and I even was quite careful about what I ate this week and made sure I walked every day; guess I didn't walk enough!!

I'm still waking up swollen in the morning and this subsides somewhat throughout the day, so some days, it turns out that I actually weigh less in the evening than I do in the morning --- go figure.  I don't believe my thyroid problem is an issue at this point.  Yes, I'm quite tired, but I believe that to be due to long days and stress.

So, the bottom line here, I think, is that I just haven't been watching what/amount I eat, closely enough; and obviously, have not exercised enough.  Will need to plan out major changes for the coming week.

Now, how about you?  I'm hoping that everyone else did better than I did, but if not, maybe we can put our heads together and come up with some plans.

Your turn................................

Hi everyone! I'm new here and would love to join in with you guys. I started my diet back in September and thought I was hitting a plateau so I've started walking more and lost another 2 pounds this week. Woo! Keep up the great work! =)

Our Tuesday weigh in:

My husband gained back a pound, but that was expected after the 7lb loss last week from being sick. I lost another pound putting me at 229. This week we are stepping up the exercise & really gonna try to make a routine of it.

I weighed myself Saturday morning and I was 285. So thats 3lbs since I last checked on May 2. I'm starting it back up again. I ate a great breakfast today and gonna do the same with a good lunch. I'm eating healthy snacks again. Bought some of those 100 calorie packs of almonds and some fruit. I'm hoping to be about 20lbs lighter by Summer vacation (August 2)!

Good luck everybody!

Well, for all of you who are down --- congratulations!!  Down is down, so it doesn't matter how small the number is, it's the right direction.

Trudie, I sure hope you can get everything under control again.  It's amazing what a lack of sleep can do to us.  I was in this "slump" of waking up every hour or two, there for a while; my endo finally told me to take couple of tylenol PM before bed, which I did for a few nights.  That helped a lot for sleeping, but sleeping has done nothing toward losing weight.

Just for kicks and giggles, I did get back on the scale this afternoon and was down 2 pounds from this morning; we all know there's no way I lost 2 pounds of fat throughout one day.

Per the suggestions earlier in the thread, I'm really going to start paying attention to the amount of salt I use, in case that's the problem.  I'm also going to go take a warm bath in epsom salts; that tends to draw out excess fluid - anything is worth a try.

Best of luck to everyone during the coming week and if there's anything we can do to help out, give you a shove or a kick in the keester --- feel free to ask.........LOL

hi everyone,

sorry....i haven't been around the last few weeks.  my kidlets have been sick and i have been struggling with severe constipation which has led to a fissure (a tear in the rectum and anus) so needless to say I have had zero exercise and am not focusing on the weight loss at this point.  Am trying to get healthy for my kidlets.  Once everything is okay I will get back on it.

Keep up the good work!

Barb--water retention isn't helping much I am sure.  I hope you get it all resolved.

I went up and then down and am thinking lack of quality sleep is contributing to me not losing and to my increased body pain.  I think I need to get my Lyrica increased.  I did lose a pound when I got lots of extra sleep the one night.  I'm away at my parents' so couldn't weigh in today but as of Friday morning I was down.6 of a pound.

Well, I am down 4.4 lbs from last week. Im 317 now and I feel like Im so close to getting out of the 300s and Im really excited about that. It feels like a major milestone. I walked twice this week. The first time was a little under a mile and on Friday it was 2.6 miles! Which Im super proud of the 2.6, lol. The only bad thing is that now is that my calves and shins are so sore AND my tennis shoes were new and gave me blisters, so my feet hurt on top of that. I want to go again soon but I dont know when my feet will get better. I already went and bought some new shoes. We have a beach to bay marathon here that people participate in once a year and my goal is to do it next year in the spring. I feel good over all but the days are just going by too slow and if feels like this weight loss thing is going to take the rest of my life.

well ladies I'm down 4 pounds since last Sunday, I'm blaming it on morning sickness that last all day, My next weigh in with the dr is in only 3 days, if I gain even 1 pounds she will complain since she does not want me to gain weight with my pregnancy. I have been walking about 15 minutes a day, also we took all day Friday changing bedrooms with my son(he had the bigger bedroom but now we will need it since we will have a baby that will share our room.

well I'm up a pound and I can't tell you how relieved I am that it's not more. Have been on holiday and eating out more than in. Beautiful restaurants in Padstow in Cornwall, too good to resist I've had fish and chips, steak, desserts and wine, all delicious and I am not going to beat myself up. I've been back since Friday evening and have been good since then. I MUST get below eleven stone by the end of this month though. Absolutely determined. Felt really well while I was away so that's good. Fingers crossed I will see some results over the next couple of weeks.

Barb your 2 lbs gain might not be significant, especially if you're seeing yourself weighing more or less sometimes at different times of the day and you have water retention issues. If you're working so hard and such long hours actually maybe what you need is to just be nice to yourself, it sounds like weight loss wise you're doing all the right things, maybe the last thing you need is to plan major changes right now, maybe just try and give yourself a bit of a break. Herbal tea can be comforting and good for curbing your appetite, if you don't already drink that maybe see if you can find one you like. You're such a star. Sending a hug.

Whatawoman you continue to inspire me - congrats on losing that pound this week and your continuing focus and progress towards your goal. You put me to shame! lol. I hope you will go easy on yourself in the week ahead too with everything you have going on.

love to both of you and everyone who is yet to post this week.

I'm pleased to say that after my outing with the hubby last week I've managed to get back down to where I was last Sunday, 125.2. I'm 0.2 away from my goal and am going to keep an eye on what I eat over the next couple of days. I'm sure on one of his days off we'll go out but I would like to keep it to a minimum. We'll see!

Congratulations on your loss.  I'm sure you can meet your goal; sometimes, just tweaking the diet a bit or adding a few minutes exercise can make all the difference in the world.

Thank you for your suggestion.  Yes, I've been watching the sodium, but you are right, there's a lot hidden in various foods.  I had switched to "Lite Salt", which has only 1/2 the sodium as regular salt because of my blood pressure, but then my doctor said sea salt, is better yet, so I switched to that; but apparently, is not a good way to go either. The main thing with sea salt is that it takes much less to get the taste.

I'm making an extra effort to stick with fresh food and not add salt.  I do eat a lot of salads, but I use very little dressing.  I've experimented a bit with some other spices, but I'm not a big fan of a lot of them.  Guess I'm going to have to work on that.

Well I put on and then lsot this week -  so my final score on teh door is 1lb weight loss this week -  I amaiming for 10lb a month so need to pick up the pace-  I am desperate to get out of the 190's and into the 180's in the next coupe of days!

Have you looked at your sodium intake Barb? It is surprising how much is hidden in a lot of foods and dressings....

Hope this coming week is a better one for you :) x
