Sunday Weigh-In August 18, 2019

Good morning... how is everyone doing this morning? It looks like we're in for another rainy day.  I have to admit, there have been too many of these rainy days and I'm getting a bit tired of them. We've had rain during some portion of every day during the past week (or longer) and if it's not rainy, the clouds are gathering to rain or haven't dissipated yet from the last rain, etc... Can you tell I need my sunshine??  lol

Anyway, my week has been taken up with medical issues again.  This is all getting pretty old.  Anyway, I mentioned last week that I'd taken another test for H Pylori and it had come back positive, but I had to wait to hear from the doctor before anything could be done.  I hadn't heard anything by Tuesday, so I figured I should call them, since that's what the doctor told me to do.

Of course, when you call a doctor's office, you only get to talk to a receptionist and that put the rest of the week on a slippery slope that was pretty stressful.  I'll spare all the details, but the week ended up with an H Pylori treatment that's unlikely to work as it's only half strong enough, a grudging referral (from the NP, not my doctor) to a gastroenterologist and an order for an abdominal ultrasound, along with a new bulge in my tummy that appears to be a hernia.

I was not the least bit happy with my doctor's office but then it's not the first time I haven't been happy with them.  My first impulse is to find a different doctor, but then when I think about it, I'd probably run into the same, or worse, things with any other doctors.  This is the same conclusion I've reached on other occasions, which is the reason I'm still with my doctor... For the most part, he does pretty good - he's just a little slow on the uptake with some things, particularly when it comes to referrals to specialists, doing additional tests, etc. We could have things resolved by the time he gets around to deciding we need to do something further if he's just do it sooner...

Anyway, I haven't heard from the gastro's office yet, so I may have to call them tomorrow to make sure they got the referral.  I do have an appointment for the ultrasound in the morning.  Fortunately, the imaging facility posts those results on their patient portal so I don't have to wait for the doctor's office to call me with results.  I'll just print the results and take them with me to the gastro appointment whenever I get one.

In the meantime, I'm struggling with what I can/can't eat because of acid reflux - it's not very much.  For the past couple of weeks, I've been sticking to yogurt, watermelon, oatmeal and bananas.  I ate some cereal last night and at first I thought it was going to be okay, but it didn't work out too well after all, so I guess that's off the menu.  I also tried a ground beef patty for lunch yesterday, but that didn't work too well either...  I guess it doesn't really matter what I eat; it takes so little to fill me up, it's not worth cooking anything large.

Anyway through all of this, I've managed to lose 1.4 lbs since last week.  I'm surprised it's not more, but my thyroid levels have dropped also, which could be part of the reason for my acid reflux, so that probably has my metabolism out of whack.  Of course, my doctor doesn't believe my thyroid hormone levels are low enough to be causing any of this so once again, I'm stuck where I am.

Anyway, my weight is going in the right direction, even if being ill isn't the right way to lose it.  I did manage to go out yesterday evening and walk down to the mailbox - we have a long driveway - plus I puttered in the yard for about 20 minutes or so before I got tired.  I can feel my muscles getting weaker and more painful from not doing anything but mowing the lawn once/week and I didn't even do that this past week because I had my doctor's appointment the day my husband mowed... If I don't get back to exercising more, I'm going to get to the point at which I'll not be able to.

So - what about you?  I hope your week has been good and you've reached whatever goal(s) you've set for yourself.

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful successful week~~

Well, hard to judge, but it looks like I'm a pound less than last week. Will re-weigh in the morning to see.

You've done well losing a pound - congratulations.

It sounds like the house selling is also going well.  I hope it sells quickly.

Has your son started his new school yet?  If so, has he decided whether or not he likes it?
Oh, not yet. Our school district starts the kids on the day after Labor Day. (They go to school until June 16th or something this year, and if there are snow days in the winter, they go even later. Summer hardly starts until July.) Cross fingers on the offers for the house being good ones. :)
Oh my, our schools are into the second week, already and will go until around June 1, with hurricane days (if any) making them go later.

Yes, I'm hoping the house sells quickly.

Sorry to be late on the check-in, our day was really busy. We had an open house at our house that's for sale, at the same time as a family party in a different location that happened to be near the open house. I went by with flowers before the agent opened the house, and went back after she shut down, and it was a strange way to bookend my time at a party!

Lots of people came to the open house, and the agent thought two or three will make offers. We have been online with the house for three days, and have so far gotten two offers. So all in all, not bad!

I'm going to run upstairs right now and weigh myself, despite the fact that it's evening and I've eaten, and I usually weigh first thing in the morning. Back in a flash.
