Thank you for your comment and assistance. You are an angel.
Your nodules are very small and it's quite rare for nodules of that size to be removed surgically. Actually, I don't think they remove just the nodules; most times they remove the entire thyroid or lobe; however, that would only be done in a case, in which it were found to be cancerous.
You might want to ask your doctor to test you for autoimmune thyroid disease, though, particularly if you have any symptoms of either hyper or hypothyroidism. Please let me know if you'd like a list of tests to ask for.
The reason why your doctor is not worried is because you must have undergone examinations, and he must have proven beyond doubt that
It is not cancerous
It is not secreting excess thyroid hormone
It is not negatively affecting any important neurovacular structures in you neck
Your docotor might not neccesarily be considering surgery for you, if he thinks its not neccessary.
Definitely, because there are 3 nodules, there is some discomfort, such as feeling a lump in your throat, you might want to discuss surgical removal of the nodules.
Take care.
This is Weight Loss and Dieting; you might want to post your question on the thyroid forum..
But I can tell you that I, also, have nodules on my thyroid; they are not always a cause of concern. Just make sure that you get regular ultra sounds in order to catch any changes/irregularities that might be significant. Normally, an annual ultra sound is sufficient.
I've recently learned that there are things they can tell from an ultra sound that most of us can't comprehend.
I don't think I'd be too concerned, if I were you.
