What test result was 99? If it was TSH, that's not good; however, there are other tests you need to have done, as well. TSH is not a "thyroid number"; it's a pituitary hormone that is used as an indicator of thyroid status.
There is no ideal number for your thyroid. There are reference ranges, within which we should fall; however, everyone is different and what might be good for me, won't be good for you. BTW - I do have hypothyroidism.
