trying to lose weight

Hey guys,
I am starting a new page in my health life. I was diagnosed with an eating disorder at 15 and I am now 17. I was annerexic, and the way they had me recover after I left the hostipal was to eat whatever and follow my cravings. So basically they taught me terrible eating habits that I now can't shake off. I really don't want to relapse but I'm very unhappy with my weight right now and want to lose weight in a healthy way. I'm 5'2" and 150ish pounds my someday goal is to get down to 120ish. I would love tips and advice. I'm particularly addicted to sweets. :/ please help! :)

It's very unfortunate that you were not taught healthy eating habits, while you were recovering from your eating disorder.

If you're addicted to sweets, replace "bad" sweets (those flavored with sugar and other sweeteners) with "good" ones - namely fruit and veggies. Eliminate sodas and drink water, instead.  If you don't like plain water, flavor it with a lemon wedge.

Make sure you eat enough at meal times to keep you from wanting to snack - center your meals around lean protein and veggies that contain a lot of fiber; both protein and fiber full you up and keep you fuller longer. Protein  is also the building block for muscle and muscle burns fat.

Here's an article by Dr James Beckerman that might help you.

And don't forget exercise.  Everyone needs some exercise every day to help use up the calories we take, build muscle (to burn fat) and simply feel better.
