Thx for the recipe I could really use more energy lol. The documentaty sounds cool i hope it'll give me more inspiration. And yes I will give my baby some healthy juices im sure he'll b happy to get to eat watever I'm eating.
Thx for the advise I'll look into getting some protein powder I just hope that it's all natural. And since u have the nasty powder lying around maybe u should substitute half of a serving with your smoothies that way they won't go to waste and your good tasting powders will last longer. I hate wasting anything esp food, hope it helps.
Oh, and I forgot to mention you should watch the documentary "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead". It's free on hulu and I think it's now on YouTube. It's about a man who juiced for 60 days and regained his health. He now has a cool website you must visit: reboot with Joe. Many great recipes and juicing diet ideas there. Goggle it. Again, good luck.
Juicing is excellent and keep it simple! You could add everything you eat to a "smoothie" but that is not juicing. A great juice for more energy is: 1 Apple, 2 carrots, 3 celery stalks, and a thumb of fresh ginger. Delicious! Also don't be afraid to try new fruits & veggies like fennel, beets, pineapple, zucchini, etc. Also kale, spinach, and other greens are best blended in after you juice your fruits & veggies. Don't worry, they won't taste bitter... throw them in! Have fun juicing. Good luck and let your baby start tasting them. Get him hooked on fresh juices!
Add add a scoop of protein powder to that smoothie and it's even more healthy. You can buy protein powder in almost any grocery store these days and you can get them in a variety of flavors. Until you find one that you like, buy the smallest container you can get, because some of them taste pretty funky. I have 3 large containers of protein powder in my cupboard that taste horrible.
In addition to oatmeal (or instead of) try adding fat free plain Greek yogurt with some type of fruit. Or try using sugar free jello or puddings for flavorings.
One of my favorite smoothies is a a scoop of protein powder, 1 serving (1/2-1 cup) plain fat free Greek yogurt, 1 Haas avocado, 1/2 cup water, lime juice to taste. Blend and enjoy. Yes, avocado has fat in it, but your body requires a certain amount... opt, mostly, for the monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats and you'll be fine.
I'm also going to try the recipe above, using 1/2 cup pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling, but regular pumpkin) in place of the avocado and lime juice.
Also, you can add spices like vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, etc to your smoothies to give them all different tastes.
I've never heard of a thickie, it sounds great, and logical. I usualy only eat two meals a day so a smoothie and a small meal will work good for me. And plenty of water all day. Drinking meals is prob a busy pesons best friend. Thx for the advise I'm goingo to go put my oats and blender to use!
Well my advice is to substitute one meal usually a breakfast with a smoothie and then a big lunch followed by a small dinner cutting back at dinner is a good quality to get into. Eating a large lunch is satisfy also but you could flip flop breakfast or lunch. The smoothies that are called thickies are oatmeal and smoothies mixed together to keep us full. I know many people use thickies to avoid cooking or are too busy and want to do other things that eat heavy. But the good thing is about smoothies are they are no or low fat and if you stay on a lo fat diet it is well worth your smoothie usage
