quick weight loss but keeping some muscle

Hey, I weighed about 13 and a half stone with about 15% body fat. I decided to go on a heavy protein diet involving about 1000 calories per day, and also go to the gym 4-5 times a week. In the last 2 weeks ive leaned up quite a lot, probably getting down to around 13 stone, but my concern is muscles loss, will i start to have drastic losses on my muscles?

Thanks for the reply. Well to be more specific I'm shipping in about 100g protein a day and about 30 grams of carbs - most of which are sugars (bio yogurts etc). My gym routine is a single muscle group per day, going for 12-15 reps with a minute to minute 30 rest inbetween. Then at weekends i do 40 minutes of cardio. Basically I'm doing this for about a month as a really quick way to loose some weight, then il probably bump it up to 1600 calories per day. My only concern is loosing muscle size. Oh and I'm about 5"11 and yes that is about 180 punds.

But thanks anyway, il keep you posted.

Welcome

As long as you are working out and building/maintaining muscle mass, you should NOT be losing muscle.  It's when you STOP exercising that you begin losing muscle.

I'm not really up on "stone vs pounds" but I think your 13 stone converts to around 180 pounds - is that right?  I don't know how tall you are, but 1000 calories doesn't sound like very much.

Although protein fills us up relatively quickly and keeps us feeling full longer, please keep in mind that your body needs ALL of the different food groups so make sure you don't leave any out of your diet.

Good luck and keep posting so we know how you are doing.
