I've just had mine today, wasn't sedated just numbed my throat and I was awake all the way through. I was really worried but it was easy just remember not to panic and breathe, even got to have a look at the moniter.
I am the biggest baby and worrier - I set the tone for anixety!
Had one and due for another. It's really nothing. As others have posted, you remember nothing. The worst part is thinking about it. I felt fine when the drugs wore off and didn't have any side effects. Make sure you tell the doctor that you don't want to know what's going on.
I had read on this forum and was told by the Dr. office that you may have a sore throat afterwards but I did not. I was surprised how easy it was as I also was apprehensive.
good luck
Just tell the doctor you don't want to remember or feel anything and you'll be fine, the last thing you remember is being wheeled to the room and the doctor will talk to you and the next thing is you in the recovery room repeating your answers to questions over and over... make sure you have a ride and then go home and sleep of the drugs..
Thanks from me, too. Mine is scheduled for next Wednesday and I'm anxious as well. You all made me feel better.
You won't feel or remember a thing.. I didn't and I had 4 polyps removed during the procedure..They will put you in a hospital room, put in the IV then you will be brought to the endoscopy room. There they will spray the back of your throat to make sure it too is numb. Then they will put the "sleepy juice" in your IV and tell you that you will feel a slight burning.. that's all she wrote.. In what seems like minutes, you will wake up and it will all be over. Good luck.. don't freak.. it's not that bad..I was very nervous.
I HAD ONE DONE, THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. THEY WILL SEDATE YOU ONE OR TWO HOURS BEFORE THE EXAM. AFTER THE EXAM, YOU WON'T REMEMBER ANYTHING.
