My Gastritis

I know I've posted several times about my chronic gastritis and it's like beating a dead horse!  I've chatted with others who have acute or mild gastritis but not chronic.

I was doing fine for a few months, now back to where I'm feeling somewhat poorly but not horrible.

Does anyone out there have Chronic Gastritis who would be willing to share their course of treatment, etc.  The doctor doesn't give much input as far as lifestyle changes.  He tells me it will heal but when!  I take Prevacid and Carafate.

Here's a lot of reading on atrophic gastritis. Were you checked for H-Pylori?

Hi MKIK-

You really do need to have a biopsy taken. I've never heard of a diagnosis "Without" biopsies taken. Especially for atrophic gastritis. I would highly reccomend getting another opinion AND with a biopsy as soon as possible. I will post something below for you regarding atrophic gastritis.

Dear All
I have also A Mild Chronic Atrophic Gastritis, I diagnoised withh this after alot of mis-diagonisations, I am wonder if chronics gastritis can cause a tongue disorder and teeth pain.

I am also change my life style and I think, I am lossing weight, do you also loss weight.

some times I have a sleep disorder, can chronic gastritis cause this sleep disorder?

Also I am afriad this could turn to more serious one, like cancer? I diagonised without any biopsy, just endscopy, could this correct or I need to have a biopsy.

I tried Aloe juice as nanci recommend but it made the situtation very very very bad and my doctor said do not try it again aloe juice is bad for gastritis. I am wondering why it relife your case?

best to all
sincerely MKIK

Out of everybodys comments on the Forum, I seem to have one of the worst cases of chronic non-erosive Gastritis.  I have had to take extreme measures just to stay alive.  My Gastritis can be extemely painful.  I don't know how bad yours is, but mine has motivated me to completly change my life and diet.  For 2 years I have bascially eaten the same thing.

Cooked carrots or baby food
broiled fish
baked chicken
A lot of bland cereal
sweet and white potatoes
no and then a little ripe banana (it still can cause burning)
cooked squash
peanut butter (including cookies)
I drink NOTHING but milk and water.
No extra butter or oil

I have at times ventured out and tried to increase my diet, but I usually pay for it.  I have finally been able to add another fruit to my diet... thank goodness.  I can tolerate a little bit of cooked blueberries - in cakes or muffins.

I take Nexium 20 mg.  One of my problems is that I have bad side effects to all the acid blockers.  That is why I only take 20 mg.  I also use the Carafate.  I can't live without either of them.

Tell me a little more about your Gastritis.

Nanci-  I'm sorry I don't have any advice.  I was just wondering what are the symptoms of Chronic Gastritis?

Naci, how well do you do on the carafate? Did you have any side
effects on this medicine? Also, did you ever take that and only
that? My doctor just switched me to carafate but discontinued the
Prevacid. Also have you ever belched up what seems to be sulfur
with your gastritis?
