REC TAL PAIN

3 YEARS AGO AFTER A BOUT OF PROSTITIUS, I STARTED HAVING PAIN IN MY RECTUM.  I HAVE BEEN TO CLEVELANS CLINIC, MAYO CLINIC, NY UNIVERSITY PAIN CLINIC AND ABOUT 20 OR MORE DOCTORS.

NO ONE HAS AN ANSWER.  I AM TAKING 40 MG. OF OXYCONDONE PLUS 750 OF HYDROCORDON AND STILL ALTHOUGH IT DULLS THE PAIN IT DOESNT GO AWAY.  I AM SUPPOSED TO SEE ANOTHER PAIN DOCTOR BUT IT IS MY BELIEF THAT PAIN DOCTORS JUST TREAT THE PAIN.  I WOULD LIKE  TO KNOW THE REASON WHY THE PAIN EXISTS.  ITS OCCURS 24/7 ALTHOUGH I REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE NIGHT AS I HAVE TO TAKE AN AMBIEN TO SLEEP.

I AM TOLD THAT IT COULD BE PROCTALGIA FUGAX BUT IT SEEMS NOONE KNOWS HOW TO TREAT THIS SO THAT IT EVENTUALLY GOES AWAY.

I AM AT MY WITS END.  LIVING WITH THIS ON A DAILY BASIS DOES NOT MAKE FOR AN EASY LIFESTYLE.

HOPE YOU CAN HELP

It is possible that Biofeedback for Pelvic Floor Tension Myalgia(PAIN) would benefit you greatly. GO to google and type in American Physical Therapy Association and get to their website and see if they can get you a practicioner who uses Biofeedback.  It is mostly used for females however, they do treat males. Also, have you tried the drug Nulev. It may help also as it has helped me both the biofeedback and the Nulev.

CAN YOU RECOMMEND A DOCTOR OR CLINIC THAT SPECIALIZES IN PROCTALGIA FUGAX OR RECTAL PAIN.

I JUST CANT IMAGINE THAT I WILL LIVE LIKE THIS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE AND IF I AM I WOULD LIKE TO BE TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE FOR ME INSTEAD OF RUNNING AROUND FROM DOCTOR TO DOCTOR.

When I said oilment,I am referring to over the counter oilment which soothes muscle pain and lubricate the part of the skin .
Yogurt with live culture means the yogurt you see in the supermarket like Dannon yogurt, but better  with that friendly bacteria called acidophilus, one examaple would be one you can find in health food section or any health food store called WHITE MOUNTAIN YOGURT.
I dont know if it will work for you,but I know women who suffer from rectal pain would rub some of that female hormone and it works.
I have also seen folks who have undergone anti biotics medication ,found that some of the good bacteria on their skin surface is wiped out,so they will spread some yogurt(no flavor please) on a sanitary napkin and wear it inside  their underwear to add some healthy bacteria back to the skin surface.
You have nothing to lose, neither yogurt or oilment would do any harm if you apply it externally.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
If you have been to 20+ doctors as well as the Cleveland Clinic and the Mayo, it will be unlikely that I can offer anything more over the internet.

The prostate can certainly be looked at, as this is the cause of a lot of chronic, pelvic pain in men.  A transrectal ultrasound can be considered for imaging as well as excluding any abscesses that can form in that area.  If an abscess is present, it will have to be drained, as antibiotics will not be helpful.

Also, sending off any prostatic fluid for analysis and culture should be done as well.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

I know postmenopause women sometimes suffer from rectal pain, could be lack of certain hormone, and if they apply some female hormone ,the pain will go away.

or yogurt with live culture??
