RIGHT SIDE AND LOWER BACK PAIN

ABOUT A WEEK AGO I WOKE UP WITH A PAIN IN MY RIGHT LOWER BACK , IT HURT TO SIT OR STAND..AS DAYS PASSED THE PAIN LESSENED AND SEEMS MORE INTENSE WHEN I FIRST WAKE UP.  I WENT TO THE ER SATURDAY B/C THE PAIN WAS BAD AND I THOUGHT I COULD HAVE A KIDNEY INFECTION..THE TEST WAS NEGATIVE BUT THEY GAVE ME CIPRO JUST IN CASE...THE PAIN IS STILL THERE AND IS NOW SPREADING TO MY SIDE...IT COMES AND GOES AND THE PAIN IS STRONGER DEPENDING ON HOW I MOVE.  I ALSO AM CONSTIPATED.  I HAVE TAKEN 2 DOSES OF A LAXATIVE AND I HAVE A BOWEL MOVEMENT BUT I STILL FEEL BACKED UP.  COULD THE CONSTIPATION BE CAUSING THIS PAIN OR DO YOU THINK IT IS SOMETHING ELSE? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP

I have experienced the burning feeling on and off also and I have crohn's colitis. No burning with urination either. So is this a crohn's thing too?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
I agree the kidneys should be looked at.  Imaging with a CT scan may not be a bad idea, as a kidney stone can present this way.   Appendicitis should be ruled out as well.

If the tests remain negative, a colonoscopy or small bowel series can be done to exclude inflammatory bowel disease.

If the diagnosis continues to be non-revealing, irritable bowel syndrome can be considered as well.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
