Right side pain

For the last five days or so I have been experiencing a pain sensation about two inches to the right of, and one inch down from my navel.  It's a localized mild pain. I am not experiencing any tenderness in my abdomen and feel nothing unusual when palpitating the area.  The pain does not change with eating or using the restroom.  Sometimes I notice it more than others, but it is not affecting me other than being annoying.  I have no known health problems with the exception of being overweight.  Today I finally decided to make a doctors appointment and discovered that the office will not be open until Monday.  Of course now I am starting to worry a bit, thinking about things such as appendicitis, etc.  Can anyone speculate what may cause this type of mild localized pain? What amount of pain or symptoms necessitates a trip to the ER?

I hope this is the proper place to post this type of question.  Thank you for any help and advice.

I am experiencing this exact same type of pain.  To the right and a little down from my navel, noticed it about 2 months ago, mostly mild and is not constant, can go days with nothing.

Saw a Urologist and he said that my prostate is somewhat swollen and gave me an ati-biotic to ensure no UTI.

He also told me to take very hot baths to reduce the swelling of the prostate...heat seems to help a bit for the stomach pain.

Curious to know if anyone has any ideas as to what is causing so many of us to have the same symptoms.

I have the same thing as Burkey - a pain about two inches to the right of, and one inch down from my navel.  I've been to the doctor twice and they say it's a muscle pain.  I think now it's some kind of gas pain - sort of like a localized ulcer.  I also had it occassionally in the morning right below my naval, and got rid of it by cleaning up my diet.  I'm going to try treating it like an ulcer, cleaning up my diet, etc.  It feels like gas, its just always in the same place.

Like Burkey, I have pain in my lower r- side but mine has been going on for over 1 year.  It's not always constant and sometimes mild but occassionally it's a sharper pain that comes almost in spasms.  I have been to the gyno and they said all is well but have recently had my colon checked and they think it might be related to my colon extending up out of the lower cavity.  I am 38 and doctor thinks I may need surgery but am still not totally convinced this is the problem.

Did anyone ever figure out what their problem was with the right side pain?  My mother has been experiencing the same thing for 5 years now and has gotten countless tests done and nobody seems to be able to tell her the problem.  She has had her gall bladder removed but nothing changed.  Now recently she has starting experiencing heaviness in her chest.  She is 50 years old and in great shape.  This right side pain has been lingering for years and I am afraid something serious is being overlooked.  Any thoughts?

I've experienced the same thing.  I've been having a throbing sensation on the right side my stomach, under my chest area.  It's not really painful, but its just annoying.  Sometimes, I feel burning sensations around my navel area.  Of course, I'm thinking the worse like its cancer or something because that's the way I am!  I'ts probably just bad gas.

Anyway, when this happened a couple of months ago, my doctor ordered an ultrasound of my gallbladder.  Everything looked normal.  So, I'm not sure what it is.

Hopefully, we'll get a reply soon.

I have had a similiar type annoying pain for over a year. The pain has become deeper as time has passed and is inside to my back at my waist. I hope my side constantly and even awaken at night with a heavy feeling and not being able to turn over. I have had many tests and nothing has shown up.. I had my gall badder removed in 1998. I just had a colonscopy, cscan and ercp..with all showing nothing. I am frustrated so much. Anyone???

You know you have described a similar annoying pain feeling that I have had for about 5 weeks now, I though it might be a muscle type problem and not something directly in my stomach, since I don't have any other symptoms as far as bowel movement changes, nausea, gas etc.. although it seems more localized to the area you described, at times I think it will spread to the center area. I tend to really feel it the most when I ride my motorcycle.. any ideas.. I see my doctor on the 16th.
