What can I eat or drink?

I was a young 38yr old until the chest pain started. After a long and painful 2 months I was diagnosed with GERD.  I am now on Nexium with very little improvement.  I have gastritis and erosive esophagitis and a small hiatal hernia.  2 Questions....What healthy foods (fruits or drinks)can I eat to help the constipation side effect from the antacids?  And 2.. can even a small hiatal hernia cause such pain and inflamation in my esophagus?  I was on prevacid for 1 month with no effect and now Nexium for 3 weeks and I feel horrible all day and night.  My diet is already very simple.  Thanks to anyone that can help.

1. For constipation you can try prunes, raisins, honey, high fiber cereals such as Raisin Bran, or any high fiber food or drink that doesn't aggrevate your Reflux.  Also, drink plenty of water.  2. A hiatal hernia isn't always the cause of Reflux.  Sometimes it's caused from low pressure in the muscle at the end of the esophagus.  When the pressure is too low, the muscle doesn't contract effectively, which allows reflux of stomach contents back into the esophagus.  3. Aciphex and Prilosec worked better for me than Prevacid. Hope this helps!
