morning sickness...for a male???

Hello, I am a 27 year old healthy male. I am physicaly fit and I have no habits such as smoking or drinking. That is why my problem is so concerning to me. Some in my family say that it is a "nervous" stomach, others have offered different suggestions ranging from different eating habits to raising the head of the bed when I sleep at nights. My problem is that when I wake in the morning, not all, but most, I have nausea. The problem has been with me for about 1 year. Sometimes it is accompanied by vomiting or diarrhea. Aprox. one hour after I have used the washroom I am fine and I can continue on with the rest of my day. For that one hour first thing in the morning, I am pretty much toilet bound though. It is true that the problem seems to be exascerbated by nervous feeling that I may be experiencing. (If I have a test or, special event the same problems present themsleves.) I have tried alot of over the counter medications, aromatherapy and herbal tonics, with little or no relief. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing, and can you recommend anything that may be able to help? I should tell you that I have not seen a doctor, I feel that my ailment can't be that serious if it is not present all the time.
Could it be a GI problem or am I dealing with the "nervous" stomach issue in which case a psych visit would probably be benificial? Any and all help would be appreciated.

It is very possible to feel nervous going golfing with new friends. Let me tell you ..maybe it was the way i was brought up but in a family of 12 siblings when we were very young living in the country we never ever went out and met new people. It was the once a week grocery shopping trip when we would pile in my dad's station wagon....that was our big social event. Low and behold if one of us had to go to the doctor it was a big deal...as all the rest of the brothers and sisters would gather round the person who had to go in disbelief saying...you have to go to the doctor's!!!! I do not do well meeting new people (school was very hard for me) or adjusting to changes or even interacting at social events, it made me nervous, not to the point of vomiting or diahrea but you could have a very sensitive stomach. If going golfing with new friends is truly something you want to do and not something you would rather not do and you are forcing yourself to do, but if you really want to do it..just go and keep on going because eventually the nervousness will go away.
Here is my email address and if you should have more questions on this please feel free to email me at ***@****
I have gone through the whole anxiety issue, from seeing a shrink to being put on anti depressants which i eventually threw out and i am glad to say I have conquered it on my own. That saying "The only thing to fear is fear itself" is very true. Once you stop fearing the fear it does go away.
take care and be well :0)

Virgo, thank you for your comments, and kind words. I must say that yes , I would classify myself as a worrier. Sounds odd since I have a wonderful life, aside from winning the lottery, there is nothing that I am lacking. As far as the bowel movements, apart from my "morning sickness" all is normal. And finally, yes, I am sick only in the mornings. I know that it IS most likely a vervousness issue, but I don't understand. I'll give you an example. A month ago I was sick because I was going golfing with some new friends from work. How is it possible to get sick out of nervousness from golf? Regardless, I am thankful thatI have found this site so that I can hear about others that are going through the same things I have been.

If it is accompanied with an anxious feeling it could very well be nerves. I seen a program on Tv about stress and diahrea and it said a lot of people do not realize how closely the nerves from the brain and intestines are connected and can effect one another. You will probably have to really start to monitor what you have eaten the night before and how you have slept the night before these morning episodes. Are you having stressful afternoons and evenings the night before? Are you having negative thoughts or are you dwelling on problems? Are you the type of person who is a worrier or is anxious all of the time? If so you could be making yourself have a nervous GI system and the nerves could be making your colon have spasms which in turn causes the diahrea. Take note of what your thoughts are because you can be worried or having negative thoughts and not even realize it.You might be so used to this train of thought that you will have to stop yourself and turn your thinking into something postive. You might want to try Yoga or some type of relaxation breathing. It seems strange that this only happens in the mornings ...it is almost like you are dreading or stressing yourself out to start another day. You should talk to your doctor about this and get his or her input. I know my GI problems started after I lost my dad and now it is worse since losing my mom. Also make sure when you go to bed at night that you are not laying there for a few hours thinking before you actually fall asleep about all kinds of doom and gloom. When I go to bed, at times it can take me a few hours to fall asleep when my mind just won't shut down and I look over at my husband who is snoring 2 minutes after his head hits the pillow and I feel like kicking him. Also when I worry about something and voice my worries to him and he will say ..don't worry about it..i'm not worried. Which is the best way to be :)
But talk to your doctor about this just to make sure it is not something physical..when you have the diahrea is there blood or mucous in your stools? You might even possibly have an over growth of bad bacteria in your intestines or colon....it might even be an idea to leave a stool sample. The main thing is to find out what is causing this to give yourself peace of mind.
take care and i wish you well :o)
