i am currently training for a marathon. after the intense workouts i experience significant rectal bleeding as well as lower back discomfort. i've heard about a condition called gutsemian (sp?) which i've heard can be caused by lack of proper hydration and can occur in thinner women.
the marathon i'm training for is in two weeks and my current condition will affect my performance. i have a colonoscopy scheduled for after the marathon.
my questions are these..
do you have more information on gutsemia?
what can i do to allievate the need to have frequent bowel movements while i run?
is it safe to take imodium ad?
are any dietary changes effective?
any information you may have will be helpful
