stomach pains

About six weeks ago I was diagnosed with h-pylori and was treated with a 14 day prev pac.  This seemed to help my symptoms of nausea and stomach discomfort, but I continue to have pain. This pain has gotten progressively worse, Now the pain is very intense in the abdomen area(especially the right side, with lots of tenderness) and seems to go into my lower back, thighs and sometimes down my legs to the calf area. For the last two days I have had a light yellow discharge, Last night the discharge was very heavy and looked like pus, as if something had erupted or burst. I am scheduled to have an IVP done tomorrow, and have already had a colonoscopy,an abdominal ultrasound and a pelvic ultrasound with no adverse results. I am positive for blood in the urine. I also have frequent headaches since these stomach problems began. I am losing weight slowly and am almost afraid to eat even though I do feel hungry, because eating seems to exacerbate the pain and discomfort. I continually have gas, burping and gurgling in my stomach. I also hawk up phlegm a lot since this started.

Have you tried any herbal treatments or acupuncture ?
Can this start from taking antibiotics for dental cleaning and stress ?
I too have lost weight and continue to suffer.
Have yet to find a good acid reducer with less side effects.
Sos sad to read even if a Aciphex works , Once done it will return. Thanks

I believe your problem may be actually caused by use of antibiotics.  I am going through same thing as you: stomach pain, IBS, and losing weight about 20 lbs after having been
through two rounds of antibiotic treatment for H pylori bacteria.  Treatment occurred about a year and two months ago and to this date, I am still having problem although condition has gotten slightly better.  I did not have any digestive problem prior to the treatment and after the treatment, I am virtually wrecked.  My life has changed significantly and I am staying at home all the time due to the stomach and intestinal pain.

Dosage of antibiotics for H pylori treatment is so potent that
many doctors don't realize significant risk of side effects that it can cause for some people.  I know many many people who are suffering from digestive problems after antibiotics treatment for H pylori bacteria.  In my opinion, treatment can be more dangerous than the bacteria itself.  Recovering can take upto a year and sometimes as in my case more.

I advise that you do not subject your self to further usage of antibiotics unless it is an emergency situation.  Take some probiotics pills that replensh all the good bacteria in your
intestine that was wiped out by the antibiotics.  You may feel the burning in your stomach because antibiotics has irritated the stomach lining so talk to your doctors and take some acid reducing medication until pain becomes bearable.  Good luck!
