Hi. I know that must have been hard, but you know, it also shows how much Amber was loved. She was part of the family ... so tears are inevitable. I have a picture of all my dogs, past and present, placed in various positions around my home. When BB passed away (my last wonderful dog, who I went through some fairly traumatic times with), I put a picture of her in the hallway. Every time I come down the stairs in the morning, I say hi to her ... and sometimes, even now, a tear comes to my eye.
They give us so much ... and we miss them so deeply when they leave us.
Take care,
Tony x
Great, I'll check it out. Thanks for the advice. And sorry to have deviated from the topic of this forum. Just wanted to reduce the risks of kidney disease for our pooches knowing how horrible it is.
By the way, yesterday my husband celebrated his birthday and so we had family over. It also exactly 5 months since our little Amber passed. We all looked at the photo book that I had made documenting her life in pictures. Hard as we tried, the tears just came running down, as we talked about her.
Hi. Gluten free pasta should be better for Sammie's allergies, though of course it depends on what Sammie is allergic to. If it's wheat-based products, then ordinary pasta will almost certainly trigger a reaction. This may be a case where trying it (in a small amount) may be worth doing, just to see. The only problem with gluten-free 'anything' is the taste is compromised, which means many dogs simply don't like it and won't eat it.

Hi. I cannot recommend kibble. It's just such a bad food for dogs. Even if we take out the poor quality nutritional content and the increased risk of kidney problems due to chronic lifelong dehydration, there's the fact that we are feeding the human equivalent of cheese crackers to our best friends - imagine as humans us eating nothing but dry cheese crackers for the rest of our lives.
Tinned dog food is just as convenient and a good quality tinned food is much much better for our dogs. Look up the facts on DogAdvisor and choose a tinned variety that gets top scores for quality.

Thanks, Tony for the advice. The article is really helpful. So, there's no such thing as all-natural, healthy kibble? Although I've already decided that we'll feed our dogs human food (I have a list of dangerous foods that I plan to keep on hand in the kitchen), I thought about when we go on vacation where bringing kibbles would be convenient. Any suggestions?
I just have to remind myself to relax a little sometimes. I don't want to be overprotective and turn into mommy dearest!
Thanks Tony. Sammie does have horrible allerges and sunflower is one of tham (had her allergy tested). If I give her a little pasta, should it be gluten free?
I'm also going to look for the green tripe!!
Thanks for your help. Everyone on this site has helped Sammie be with us longer!!
