Another case of Bulging eyes

My 14 month old golden retriever has developed bulging eyes over the last 2 weeks.  I have taken him to the vet, and they don't think it's glaucoma, but are not sure what it is. We had bloods taken at our request to test for a thyroid problem, and are still awaiting results.  his pupils are not as reactive as they should be, but there is no cloudiness and no apparent pain.  he is not rubbing at his eyes or anything like that.  I am hoping that someone can make some suggestions of other causes.  It's not just one eye, but one is worse than the other.

Thank you for your reply.  He was eventually diagnosed with extra-ocular myositus.

search for open-angle glaucoma.. which says that the one eye is worse than the other.  or ur retriever might have allergies...
