Well she's had a 2nd session and her walking is a LITTLE better without falling over so much and she now feels she can come up the hall by herself which she never did before. Her energy levels are another thing i have noticed, she's like a little clockwork dog you wind upThanks for your interest

Hi Mich.........
First of all, Bless you for keeping this baby & doing all you can for her......Makes my heart sing! ;)

I quess I don't get to lecture you on dog nutrition (Darn) as you have already chosen the BEST! Good for you for figuring that out! Ziwi Peak is my All Time favorite food....

I know your not in the states, but you can do a search for a Holistic Vet through the AHVMA (American Holistic Vet Medical Association) websight....Type in AHVMA & go to their mainpage....I believe there's a link for different countries....Or your country may have their own sight....There should be a list of Holistic Vets close to you.....

I DO think this line of treatment will be the best choice for her....Good luck & please keep me posted.....I'll be wondering......Karla

Thanks for your post.I'm going to find an acupuncturist and see what they can do for her.She is on a 5* food Ziwi peak, orijen and nutra cal. There was no certificate health check ,just what she told me.She did say if i didn't want her she would give me my money back, but she is a darling and so good ,and my other chihuahua is so good with her ,she thinks she's her puppy so wonderful to watch, and she's a happy little dog,so we will do all we can for her. Thanks for your help, shall let you know what happens.

Hi Mich....So the Breeder lied? Sounds like a Suspicious Breeder to me...This dog should have never been sold to an unsuspecting family....Was there a "Health Check Certificate" in your contract when you purchased her? That would make the breeder liable for your Vet bills? Just believing what the breeder told you is NOT enough.....

My suggestion for this girl is to find a Holistic Vet....You want one that is Certified in Acupuncture....I feel Acupuncture would help get the signals where they need to go....Also, a Holistic Vet will have a minimal Vaccine Protocol (Very important for your girl) & be able to direct you towards proper nutrition (Not out of a bag) for her....

The more the Vet is certified in, the better.....A Chinese Herbal Medicine Certification would be even better......Let me know what you think....Karla

When i got her from the breeder she said her muscles in her back legs needed to strenghen as she was so tiny(her vet told her this ) when i took her to mine she said it was the signals from the brain getting interupted and not going where they should so that's why she falls over,no medication was given or tests ,she just made her walk and looked at her standing. She is 8 months old ,so had it from birth.
Thanks Karla

Hello & welcome....Oh, poor little girl! Has she had this all along or has it just come up?

Since Ataxia is not normal, there has to be something causing it...What does your Vet think the problem is? Have you tried to narrow it down? Have any tests been done to rule issues out? Is she on any medications?

Ataxia/Falling Over can be caused by Hypoglycemia (Common in Tiny Dogs), Spinal Disease, Kidney Failure, Liver Shunt, Inner Ear Infection, Wobblers Disease & Heart Disease to name a few....

Everything listed above can be treated to make her more comfortable & extend her life....

Please let me know what your Vet has ruled out or any medications you have already tried (Whether they helped or not).....Bless her heart.....Thanks, Karla
