Canine Neurogenic KCS

I have a 5 yr old rescue long haired chi mix that has neurogenic KCS (dry eye) adopted 10/2011. We've gone thru the university vet school ophthamology treatments (cyclosporin, tacrolimus, and pilocarpine drops) since 10/11 with no response. We are currently treating with gels, drops, and ointments throughout the day and antibiotic ointment as needed. The next step appears to be having his eye removed. Has anyone had this done? They don't recommend the salivary duct surgery because he has so little vision in that eye.

Thanks, I'll ask about that at his next visit.

Have you tried Autologous ( Blood serum ) eye drops...?  Check into them.
They are drops that are made from your own dogs, or a donor dogs blood.
They worked well for my Yorkie, but, we had to discontinue, because the donor dogs owner decided to stop donating.
Anyway,
Ask the vet school about them.

As far as the surgeries go, check in often, as other members who have knowledge of, or experience with the surgeries may reply.

Best Wishes,
Connie
