my dog has a bump on the tip of his ear flap. It doesn't hurt him and it is hard what could it be.

Hello Ginger, I am just surprise that I took him to the vet to get him neuter and she didn't say anything about it. May be I shouldn't worry about it either but I am going to keep an eye on it. Thanks

Chances are this is something totally harmless.
But the fact is with lumps and bumps, you can never tell. Even experienced vets can often not tell what they are without biopsy.
The thing to do with this lump is watch it for a week or so. If it doesn't go away, or gets bigger/inflamed/anything, get it checked out.
It could be nothing more than a sebacious cyst. Dogs are often prone to them. Or it could be an infected hair follicle.
