do you have examples of a multiple enzyme product that i can get? she is 8yrs and i believe i need to change their food..my catahoula is going to be 5 so i'm sure he can benefit from better food as well, he is getting some bad gas.
Some dogs get gassy as they age due to a deficiency of digestive enzymes. Adding a multiple enzyme product to their food can often be the answer to a gas problem. Feeding a probiotic can be helpful too.
I too, have a gassy, older dog. Although the enzymes and probiotics have helped, I still have not found the magic combination to stop the gas. She is eating a quality grain-free dog food.
i bet either one will help...anything will help at this point..I also have a catahoula leopard dog that his starting to get pretty gassy but not as bad as my boxer/lab.
Well, that was a story I heard a long time ago. I just saw my Vet yesterday too and should have asked him.
It was either Gas X or Beano. LOL!!!
OMG Gas X? i never thought of that...and yes i can relate to the being cooped up in a car with a gassy dog...when we have her in the car, especially in the winter when you cannot roll your windows down. needing a gas mask would be wonderful..LOL..i will talk to her vet and see if we can try gas x..Thanks :)
Sounds like a food issue to me also. Our Grey can get very gassy at times. But, I sometimes had a little canned food to his kibble as he is a very picky eater. Some of the canned food will cause him gas. This is kinda funny, really. My Vet was treating one of our Police Dept's Police dogs who had a major gas problem. Now, imagine being closed up in a patrol car with a gassy dog!!! They did testing, tried food changes, etc and nothing showed up or helped. Vet finally decided to try Gas X. I kid you not. Took care of the problem.
Soooooooo, you may call you Vet and see if you can give that a try.
We had a boxer and he always farted..i think its just part of their make-up..it is awful
Meg
lol this is a common problem in boxers my boxer is 2yrs old i had him on some really expensive food which the vet recommended and said it would help him to let off less gas this didnt work and hes on cheaper food now which he still farts on lol i do find if i give him scraps it gets worse so i suppose just stick to dry food [nuts} not much more advice i can give im afraid i love him so i just have to deal with his smells too lol
I agree, you need to change her food! Nutra Nuggets is a Very low quality food....I just reviewed the ingredients & see nothing of nutritional value in it! Only cheap fillers and ingredients that are known to cause allergies in dogs...Thus, digestion problems and extra gas....
Please review this food at Dogfood Analysis.com for further info.(And to why you shouldn't feed it)...Their scale for foods is based on 1-6 Stars.....Nutra Nuggets gets the lowest rating of 1 star!
While your there, go through their lists of 4-5-6 star rated food and find her some better nutrition....It will greatly help her, all around....Karla
I have been feeding her nutra nuggets for the past 5 years and have not changed. i didn't think it was the food.
I would suggest that you change her food. What are you feeding her?
