Sprinkle with baking soda and let that sit fir a while. Take the vacuum hose and they suck it out with that.
Thanks, I also saw elsewhere the recommendation to add a teaspoon of baking soad to the mix and use for an air freshener. The BS seemsto changes the PH, I saw some foaming/bubbling.
I would think baking soda directly on the dog bed would leave a white residue. Now that's not all bad, my dog is white too, at least after a bath he is.
Volcanic Eruption is what I'm picturing!!!! LOL!
Yes, baking soda is good too or a combo of both, ESP on carpets but not at the same time. Lol
NO air freshener scents.....They cause allergies!!!!!
I think baking soda...Sprinkle it on, take a brush & grind it in, wait & then vacuum.....
Yes, white vinegar. You can use apple cider vinegar as a rinse on the dog too. Shampoo, rinse, pour the diluted vinegar on the dog, let set and kind of scrub, rinse with clear water. Have used it on many dogs over the years and my own hair to get soap residue, grooming products out, etc. just don 't use it on open sores as it will sting.
Look up uses for vinegar, you will be amazed. Still wash windows with vinegar and newspaper.
Vinegar works great to clean cloth items. If you don't like the vinegar smell dust the bed with baking soda and vacuum it off. I bought a huge used rug offline and did that. It is clean and smells great. All natural too. I usually use 50/50 vinegar water mix. I use more vinegar for harder messes.
The "white" vinegar we "all" use for cleaning? I'd worry some about trading the current odor (which I can't smell when standing near the bed) with the smell of vinegar.. or does the vinegar kill odors and soon lose its own fragrence? What 50/50 with water a good dilution?
He will get a bath today, but it is raining today, so no sun for his bed. I think I'll try a light misting of his bed with vinegar. He has three small blankets we can and do wash. He uses the blankets and often when getting into bed (which is large for his size) he shuffels the blankets around until they are positioned to his liking, or he just gives up : )
I think I would stay away from the chemicals. Try spraying it with vinegar and water and put it out to dry.
Really, since this is going to be an issue, if you have a Costco, get a dog bed from there as the covers come off and can be washed or get a bed that can be washed and keep terry cloth towels or something that is cotton in it. That way, you can wash them often. I would not use any fabric softener and put it through a vinegar rinse.
