Dog died suddenly

my dog Vince seemed fine.  He took me for a 3 mile walk on Saturday morning and he was normal.  On Sat night he seemed sluggish.   Sunday morning he had trouble getting up the stairs in the house.  I took him for a 10 minute van ride and he was hesitant to get inside.  One he did jump up inside he let out a series of mournful cries.  I checked his foot to see if he had something sticking in it.  Nothing.  I was assuming Arthritis.  He got into his front passenger seat and after a few minutes he went and lay down on the back seat.  I returned home with him and he was stiff and also pooped with the last bit of poop being soft with some red.  The rest of the poop was normal light brown.   It took us about 30 minutes to get him to the E.R. where he passed away in about 10 minutes.  It could be heart failure or internal bleeding??  He was always inside the house except for brief walks and car rides.  He missed the last year of Heart Work meds but the symptoms don't match.  any insight would be appreciated.  SEE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54y4MIOxb4Y

I am so very sorry about Maggie,my heart goes out to you.
Though I understand how you could not say "goodbye" in
this and many cases like it,there is no "good" in goodbye
when we loose our beloved friends and companions and
the pain and loss rips at our hearts.
There can be a silent killer in dogs as well as humans, you
should not keep second guessing yourself, what if(?) did I
not look or watch close enough to see this coming(?) if
this was what happened, nothing could have prevented
it and it is very sudden,no warning before hand.
As I said in the other post,"Some dogs can have
something called "dilated cardiomyopathy." They
go their whole lives with no symptoms and then
one day the heart can suddenly fail, without any
warning at all,no prior symptoms."
I am sure you were a very caring, loving owner,
Maggie was fortunate to have shared her life with
you for those 9 years.

AWWWW what an amazing video of Vince and your family
on vacation,he was such a special part of your family,he
looked so "majestic" sitting there in the canoe, looking all
around, taking everything in,you have some beautiful and
great memories to hold in your hearts.
Again I am so sorry for your loss, thank you for sharing the
video with all of us.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your little guy,he was a
very handsome boy and he looks so content and happy
in the picture.
Many times there are no answers with a "sudden death"
but this is a copy of information I gave to another person
who came here, perhaps it will help just a little?
"If he did just die suddenly with no signs of illness
a heart problem is possible. Some dogs can have
something called "dilated cardiomyopathy." They
go their whole lives with no symptoms and then
one day the heart can suddenly fail, without any
warning at all,no prior symptoms.
While it may be no comfort to you if this was what
happened to your beloved boy he had no pain and
it was all over before he even knew anything was
wrong...snap your fingers and for him it would've
been this quick."
RUN FREE LITTLE MAN.... again I AM SO SORRY
your best buddy left so soon...
