Eye Problems

I have a 65 pound three year old chocolate lab.  He has been having a yellowish green eye bugers coming out of his left eye.  It is also pretty red.  The eye bugers are more often than a normal eye.  I am wondering what I should do.  We think he might have allergies and on occasion we give him a benadril. He is a hunting dog so he is in the water often and in brush.  I am unsure if the eye could be scratched or somthing is just caught in there.  But i can not see anything by looking.

It's best not to assume that allergies are the problem and have your vet perform an eye exam.  With the amount of drainage you describe, it sounds like he's got an infection and probably just needs some antibiotic eye drops.  Since he's a hunting dog, he's going to need full use of his eyes to do well in the field, so don't put off that visit!  :-)
