Char..I can't recommend a DRY food for your Sohie...That would be like me pulling the trigger for a dog with clear Kidney problems.....However, you can go to the above link's webpage and check out the best foods...

There will be a link that says: "Best Dog foods" and go from there...Good luck...

What does a "BUN of 70" mean?

I feed my Westie about 3/4th Kibble and 1/4th canned - both are salmon/potato based.

He drinks lots of water, so his Kibble gets water in the stomach..  I also sprinkle a little water on top of the Kibble.  He doesn't like the Kibble to be floating in water.  In the past I had added chicken broth to the Kibble, but I am now suspicious that he may be allergic to chicken.

Both the Kibble and Canned have a 4 star or better rating on the dogfoodadvisor.  You don't have to go to a Park Avenue address for dog food, both the Kibble (Taste of the Wild) and the canned (4Health) are sold at the Tractor Supply Company.

Whatever you do I suggest you try one source protein and No Grain.  I'm working of fish (Salmon) and avoiding any Chicken (very common in aboiut everything, even avoid chicken flavored), Beef etc.  It appears our Westie has food allergies and the best approach to food is to use a quality food and stick with it to learn if that food causes any allergies. If it does you can take it OFF the list and try something else.

Food allergies more common that I though before we "rescued" our Westie.

Charp.....You need to get her off the Racheal Ray foods.....This particular food adds a synthetic form of vitamin K that can be toxic....ONLY found in low quality petfoods....

                                   Menadione:  Dangerous Toxin?

Critics5 see menadione as only a precursor to the vitamin’s more natural versions. They cite studies that make rather disturbing claims. They worry that menadione…

Causes toxic reactions in liver cells
    Weakens the immune system
    Induces allergic reactions
Causes abnormal break-down of red blood cells

One company selling menadione warns its human buyers that menadione is “toxic to kidneys, lungs, liver, mucous membranes. Repeated or prolonged exposure to the substance can produce target organ damage.”6

Banned from Use in Human Supplements

According to a peer-reviewed article published in 2004 by the Linus Pauling Institute at the Oregon State University:7

“Although allergic reaction is possible, there is no known toxicity associated with high doses of the phylloquinone (vitamin K1) or menaquinone (vitamin K2) forms of vitamin K8. The same is not true for synthetic menadione (vitamin K3) and its derivatives. Menadione can interfere with the function of glutathione, one of the body’s natural antioxidants, resulting in oxidative damage to cell membranes. Menadione given by injection has induced liver toxicity, jaundice, and hemolytic anemia (due to the rupture of red blood cells) in infants9; therefore, menadione is no longer used for treatment of vitamin K deficiency10. No tolerable upper level of intake has been established for vitamin K.”

The FDA has banned the use of menadione from over-the-counter supplements because large doses have been shown to cause these dangerous biological effects.

Here's a link that tells you about the quality of this food:

Your dog needs a moisture rich diet. NOT dry food......No dog should be expected to live on dry food alone....That is not what their bodies were designed for any more than ours are! That would be a fresh food diet or high quality CANNED......Her Kidneys are struggling and she needs moisture to help them....Karla

If you need a list of high quality canned, let me know....
