Just wanted to share this as we have to realize when we get a pet, chances are, we will probably outlive them.  This can put things in perspective.

Hi. You're right, we should consider the realities of getting a dog. But wow, it hurts even thinking about it, doesn't it. People think I'm a bit sad, because my best friends are dogs ... in return, I feel sorry for these people, because they don't understand the loyalty, love and devotion of a dog and sharing every aspect of life with them.

Yes it is so sad. We love them so dearly and they are not with us for anywhere near long enough. Even when they live well into their teens, time for them to leave comes too soon.

But oh boy -they live on in our hearts and in our souls, and often change our lives around. They give us so much and teach us so much about Love.
