GSD sores

My 5 year old GSD has developed sores on his paw area and one particular on his "wrist" that has not healed in months.  He has never had a skin condition.  I have limited funds and was wondering if anyone dog has had a similar condition and know of any suggested treatments.

Can you describe what the sores look like in DETAIL? If possible, maybe we can narrow down what you need to do....Thanks, Karla

This is only one paw?  Yes, it could be food but I would expect some reaction on more than one paw.  Try feeding a grain food and one with no corn.
I have used hydrogen peroxide also but not often as it can cause tissue damage.  If this has been going on for some time, I would worry about infection and you may need an antibiotic but, of course, you would have to go to the Vet.
I assume you have given the foot, especially between the toes and pads, a good inspection for anything stuck, bite marks, etc.
You might try giving the foot a soaking in warm water and Epsom Salts or warm water with apple cider vinegar, which can act like an anti-bacterial.  Rinse off thoroughly and dry thoroughly. If there are open sores, don't use the vinegar. A hair dryer is best to get in between the toes if the dog will tolerate it. You can also put a little   You can try a triple antibiotic ointment or some bag balm but you will need to keep the foot covered with a sock or something. This should be done once or twice a day.
You can also add some ACV to his food.  Try to get the natural ACV.  If this is yeast. It might help.  Also, try adding enzymes to his food.  I have had good results with a product called Prozyme given daily.

Along with what Doggiemom has told you (Which is excellent advise by-the-way), you might try OTC peroxide on the sores to dry them up.....Make sure you sit with your dog until it has dried on his sores.....

Have you changed foods lately? sounds like an allergic reaction to something.
read this for one of the natural remedies.

since you didnt describe the sores or if they are itchy or not..i can only assume it is allergy related. most of the itme it is from foods. wheat, corn, soy & yeasts can all cause allergies. also sometimes dogs are allergic to chicken..evven beef. my dog is allergic to duck. so i would elliminate all the above ingredients and just have limited ones. give probiotics and digestive enzymes as well as a high quality fish oil from a good source. not Walmart type brands. go to a health food store. you should start seeing a difference fairly quickly.
